Another way of viewing the spectacular architecture of Dubai is by boarding on an enchanting Dhow Cruise. A Dhow is a traditional sailing vessels made of wood with one or more masts with?lateen sails used in trading that carries heavy items, like fruit, fresh water or merchandise, along the coasts of the?Arabian? Peninsula?and?East Africa.

Father and I before the Dhow sails

Along with The Big Bus Company Dubai Tour was a complimentary ticket to a Dhow Cruise. So after a day of touring my dad in Dubai, we went to the creek docks (pick up point) and boarded that brightly lit wooden boat. That was my first time on a Dhow Cruise after living for two years in the Emirates.

That?s me with some of the sparkling views

Cruising for almost 2 hours our eyes had regaled on the scenery along Dubai Creek. It was a relaxing night with a sparkling city view from a cruising dhow and a warm breeze that I called it a good Arabian experience. The double decker boat offers a relaxing ambience. Half of the upper deck offers a traditional majlis seating style and the other half was an open area with a few seats. The only thing that gets me off was the absence of a dinner buffet. Since it was only a complimentary ride we only had a complimentary drinks, but there was a small food stall serving snacks at an affordable price. ?A normal Dhow Cruise costs 150 dirhams and that includes either Arabic or international cuisine dinner buffet. There are several Dhow Cruise operators to choose from. Just a little research over the internet and you will find lots of them.

It was a nice experience, I?m sure my dad enjoyed it. If you happen to be in a tour, do hop a Dhow, your Arabian tour is not complete without a Dhow Cruise.
