Multiple sources confirmed that offensive WVU offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh is leaving to take the same position with the Oklahoma Sooners.
Allan Taylor of WVUMetroNews reported that Bedenbaugh is headed to Oklahoma to replace James Patton. Patton left the Sooners earlier this week for a coaching position at Indiana.
Bedenbaugh spent the last two seasons as an offensive line coach at WVU after leaving Arizona to join Dana Holgorsen.
Bedenbaugh becomes the fourth coach to leave the Mountaineers after a disappointing 2012 season.?WVU had a potent offense?with an offensive line that was inconsistent at best.
The primary reason for the Mountaineers midseason swoon in 2012 was a porous defense that that ranked as one of the worst in the nation.
Bedenbaugh was hailed for his recruiting skills?that helped?sign the 24th ranked 2013 class.
Bedenbaugh was paid $250,000 last season and was?to receive $300,000 for 2013. The coach he replaces at Oklahoma made $265,000 last year.?
Defensive backs coach Daron Roberts and special teams coach Steve Dunlap were fired from their positions at the end of the season. Quarterbacks coach Jake Spavital left to coach at Texas A&M.
As I reported in an earlier article found here, there may be more coaching changes to come at WVU before next season.
