Ski resorts in France have always ranked among the best in the world. The French ski resorts boast great mountain slopes, apres ski, infrastructure and are usually always located near picturesque towns or villages. Another advantage is that France is very accessible to travellers from England. The resorts provide expert trainers for people who want to actually ski while they are on their luxurious vacation.

With more than 300 ski resorts covering close to 8000kms of ski trails (pistes), choosing the right luxury resort can be challenging. To make the task easier here are three luxury ski resorts that have consistently been in almost all top ten lists.

Chamonix

Chamonix is the holy grail for many extreme skiers. This luxury resort is recommended for visitors who have a fair knowledge in skiing. Founded in 1934, it has about 300 kms of ski trails that are more suited for experienced skiers. Of the three ski areas, Solaise is the one recommended for beginners and there are many ski guides and private ski schools to help you hone your technique. Val d?Isere is part of the famed Espace Killy and is just about three hours away from Geneva. As a result has hosted parts of the Olympics and World Cup. You can also enjoy other outdoor sports, indoor sauna and spa facilities or visit some of the best chalets in France.

Courchevel

Courchevel is located in the biggest ski area of Trois Vallees and is one of the most exclusive ski resorts in France. Since its establishment in 1946 it has attracted numerous celebrities and commoners alike. Courchevel is home to the famous and luxurious Hotel des Trois Vallees located in Courchevel 1850 base station. The ski season is short, lasting from December to April and has quite a few trails for beginners. Base Station 1300 also known as Le Praz is home to an Qlympic ski jump, which is 120 metres high, where you can attend many competitions. The five ski areas in Courchevel offers great runs for skiers and snowboarders alike. Other than these snow related activities, you can enjoy frozen waterfall climbing, winter walks, indoor sports and dine out at one of its many world class restaurants.
